Northern New Jersey (Totowa)

Of northern New Jersey’s many attributes, location is perhaps its greatest advantage.  It’s an easy drive or ride via public transportation to experience all that New York City has to offer.  But New Jersey residents enjoy the added advantages of less congestion, beautiful countryside and a lower cost of living.  In fact, it’s not even necessary to go to Manhattan for great fun and entertainment.  Hoboken is considered a mini-New York City because of its abundant boutique shops and hopping nightlife, and Montclair has great restaurants and a noteworthy museum.  Major national and international sporting events are held at the nearby Meadowlands, including Giants and Nets games, as well as horseracing.

Head downstate and you can relax on the beautiful beaches of the Jersey Shore, walk around the venerable Princeton University campus, or try your luck at Atlantic City’s casinos.  On the way, stop by a diner—New Jersey has more diners than any other state—and enjoy the picturesque small towns.  New Jersey’s combination or big-city advantages and small-town charms make the state truly unique.

Norwalk, Connecticut

Forty miles northeast of New York City, Norwalk, Connecticut is located directly on Long Island Sound in lower Fairfield County and is made up of a collection of diverse neighborhoods and communities.  This city of over 80,000 people has a long and interesting history, and was the 14th town to be established in the State.  Norwalk was founded February 26, 1640 and incorporated September 11, 1651.

Today Norwalk is a thriving metropolis accented by outstanding restaurants and is home to many unique and exciting attractions for people of all ages.  Norwalk has a rich tradition of hosting Music, Theatre and Art events all year long, an enthusiastic city government, and a wealth of natural resources and beauty.

Chicago (Deerfield)

It’s easy to understand why Chicago, with its rich history, outstanding professional sports teams, top-tier museums, nationally acclaimed zoos, and noteworthy architecture, is considered “My Kind of Town” by more than 3 million residents.  Chicago is a multi-cultural city of opportunity, energy and determination that takes pride in being known as “the city that works.”

You can enjoy a delicious deep-dish Chicago pizza while cheering on the Cubbies at Wrigley Field, or sample the vibrant performing arts scene, ranging from the renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra to the many improv comedy troupes.  Chicago is also home to top-tier research universities, including the University of Chicago and Northwestern University, as well as the Chicago Board of Trade, the world’s busiest futures exchange.  There’s nothing second-rate about Chicago as a place to work, play, eat and enjoy.

San Francisco/San Jose (Redwood City)

San Francisco is truly one of the world’s great cities—a port city with saltwater in her veins and gold fever in her past.  And like any great city, San Francisco is recognizable by her famous landmarks.  Who wouldn’t instantly identify the home of the Golden Gate Bridge, the TransAmerica pyramid, Lombard Street or cable cars?  But San Francisco is more than a list of famous places.  It is also justifiably proud of its internationally renowned symphony, ballet, opera, art museums, theaters and elegant hotels.  Thanks to an astonishing influx of people from around the world during the Gold Rush, San Francisco’s population is the most diverse in the nation,

Going south from San Francisco, you enter the area of California’s modern Gold Rush—Silicon Valley, home of high-tech barons, Stanford University, Old Palo Alto, and San Jose’s Tech Museum of Innovation.  San Jose anchors the southern end Silicon Valley’s high-tech corridor and is a beautiful city in its own right, retaining the flavor of its rich Latino heritage.  The entire Santa Clara Valley, cradled by the fog-shrouded Santa Cruz Mountains, offers scenic suburbs, cultural diversity, a mild climate and casual lifestyles.  No wonder the area perennially ranks among the most desirable places to live.
