
Mike Aristides is a Principal for Health Economics and Outcomes Research for IMS Health and is responsible for managing this business in Europe. With more than 17 years of experience in pharmacoeconomics, epidemiology, and biostatistics, Aristides works directly with pharmaceutical clients to develop cost-effectiveness studies, budget impact analyses, and preference/quality of life and observational studies that help drive their market access and clinical trial strategies for product launch.
Aristides has led a variety of client engagements focused on the oncology market and has authored numerous publications on major therapy and tumor types such as advanced non-small cell lung cancer, and metastatic breast and colorectal cancer. He speaks frequently at international forums on pharmaceutical policy and economic evaluation—with a particular emphasis on the oncology market.
As a co-founder of M-TAG, a leading international health technology assessment group and member of the IMS family of healthcare information services, Aristides specializes in pharmacoeconomics, clinical trial and observational study design preference and quality of life studies. He has deep experience in government-level pharmaceutical policy development and implementation.
Aristides has worked for the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation at the University of Sydney and in 1992, was appointed Deputy Director of the Pharmaceutical Evaluation Section in the Federal Health department. There he was part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for implementing the world’s first pharmacoeconomic guidelines and was involved in policy development, as well as advising the organization’s national formulary committees.
Aristides received his degree in Economics from the University of Leicester. In 1989, he received his Masters in Health Economics from the University of York in the United Kingdom.
