Dr. Christian Bach is Head of the Oncology Competence Centre at IMS Health Germany. With more than 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and 12 years of experience in oncology, Dr. Bach has a deep understanding of the oncology market from a variety of perspectives.
In his current position at IMS, Dr. Bach established the Oncology Competence Centre to deliver expanded support to clients in this highly complex therapeutic class. Within Germany, the Competence Center serves as the first point of contact for clients who need information or customized solutions to address their franchise needs. The Center also works closely with IMS oncology worldwide.
Dr. Bach and his team have supported the development of cancer specific patient databases in Europe to track certain drugs with specific indications; the implementation of a new database to calculate treatment costs in Europe and Japan; and market assessment studies to identify the potential of new drugs entering the oncology market.
Prior to joining IMS, Dr. Bach spent eight years as a Sales Manager for oncology and niche therapies for Baxter Healthcare where he gained deep insight into the dynamics of the oncology market in the hospital and retail sectors. Prior to Baxter, he spent five years at the Institute of Virology at the University of Giessen, where he received his undergraduate degree and PhD in Virology and Chemistry/Biochemistry. Dr. Bach’s work in virology has been published in numerous scientific journals.
