Measuring launch success consistently in Europe

Client Situation

A client needed consistent performance reporting and analysis for its Executive Board - including early alerts to performance shortfalls and an assessment of a new drug launch across the five major European countries.

IMS Solution

The IMS Information Management team designed a customized system that enabled users to analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to and benchmark the new product, while at the same time monitor existing key brands to ensure that performance didn't suffer. The client can instantly understand the latest performance measures, and is alerted to any signs of weakening results.

IMS designed and implemented a straightforward "traffic lighting" system, or dashboard, that highlights the performance of the new drug against a number of benchmarks - with warning symbols drawing the user's attention to countries where performance is not on track.

Business Benefit

The IMS dashboard offers senior executives easy access via the company's intranet to weekly, monthly and quarterly KPIs for the new product. Key Adoption Indicators (KAIs), which reveal the drivers of product performance, are used to analyze the performance of other core products within the portfolio. The KAIs include predictive measures of doctors' adoption patterns, as well as market share and detail recall rates.

Following the implementation, IMS is meeting monthly with the client's Executive Board to discuss insights and recommend evidence-based actions that will lead to additional performance improvements.
